How to repair chipped formica

There are no aftermarket products that are available for repairing chipped formica. Depending on location, size of chip, and color of formica, some repairs can be made by routing out the chip, just deep enough, to inlay a newly shaped. I have to agree with answer two. I also agree in the notion of hindsight and probably would have ROUTED to the cut line after cutting with a sabre saw.


Locate a supplier of laminate. Eash color laminate (wether Wilsonart or Formica) sells a bottle of color that the installers use to blend seams. You can also use this colorant to hide chips where they are not as noticeable. Squeeze a small amount of laminate filler or paste that matches your Formica counter onto.

If the repair is more extensive and most of the laminate is coming off the door, or part of the laminate strip is chipped , the whole piece of trim should be replaced.
